Weekly Word Photo (Now Monthly Word Photo)

So... I know I said that my weekly word photo project would become a month word photo project, but I'm afraid to say that I have too much else going on right now, and quite frankly am being quite pathetic and just can't manage it all enough in order to plan and find inspiration for the photo. I know some might say that this could be a great way to then force myself into doing it, but I managed to keep it going for half the year so that's enough for me! Sorry guysssss :).

Weekly Word Photo (Now Monthly Word Photo)

So, it has been a month, and I have to say it has been a relief to not have the weekly pressure of the image; life was just too busy for that. But I have also missed the forced creativity. I'm not by any means saying that forcing creativity out of yourself if a good way to create an image, but I have taken a big back seat and not really thought about what the image was even going to be. So this month's word (decided only yesterday!) is this:

"Lack"

One thing I lack in my life is dairy. I miss dairy. Honestly I do. Sometimes it just would make life easier if I didn't constantly have to keep an eye out for what is in food, and asking in restaurants what everything is cooked in. Especially when you go to some restaurants and ask, and then still go home that night feeling dreadful and throwing up because clearly they cooked your mushrooms in a cream based sauce. It's hard. No pizza. No yoghurt. My diet lacks the fun and ease of cheese. It lacks the calcium and the protein that milk products give.

However I now find milk itself quite repulsive. Whether or not this is because of the physical effects I feel from eating it, I'm not sure. When I first cut out dairy from my life I used to get a bi-annual craving for milk and glug down a glass of it. Now however I depsise the stuff. I enjoy soy milk. In my cereal, in my scrambled eggs. Lucky for me I don't drink tea or coffee though.... cause I think soy milk would not really work well in that situation....

Soy and sunflower spread is also something I now enjoy. It tastes no different. But is healthier. Soy custard is even better than real custard (even the mr agrees there!), and with some apple crumble I can forget all the worries that might come my way the next time we eat out.

The word for next month will be "Liaison"

Weekly Word Photo- "Argument"

This word kind of makes me jump for joy photographically. It seemed like so much fun! I get to scream at someone? For an image? AWESOME.

This is pretty much the face I bet Mike wishes he could pull when were arguing...

Sadly however I'm starting to feel like the weekly image projects are not getting enough of my attention as they deserve. I don't want to churn out images just to meet a deadline. I want to take my time to creatively produce an image that is worth sharing. I don't want to share adequacy. I feel like this week's image is rather average, and that I could have made an image that much better fits with the idea of awesomeness I had/have in my mind.

Therefore from now on both the Weekly Word Photo project, and the Self Portrait project will become a monthly project, giving me more time to focus on these as well as everything else in my day-to-day schedule. Hopefully we will all see an increase in the quality of images I produce because of this, and hopefully you all will agree!

Weekly Word Photo- "Catching"

Hehe I love the word randomiser! Recently it seems to give me something that relates to my week, and I love that.

This weeks word was 'catching'. So, you ask- how does that fit into my week!? Well you see, this week was my housemate Edd's Birthday. He is a geek. Truly. So we had a Pokemon party for him last night! We all dressed up as one of the 150 classic Pokemon characters, and had relevant themed games during the night. Edd's character for the night, was 'Ash' the Pokemon trainer- who has to CATCH all of the different characters (by doing a shot and taking a picture with us!) throughout the evening.....

So admittedly this photo is therefore not really very serious or artistic, but just a bit of fun!

Weekly Word Photo- "Going"

Quite appropriately the word randomiser gave me "Going" this week! As I am heading back to England this weekend (YAY!) it fits nicely :) Plus today we are visiting friends and family in Vancouver, so are leaving the Island to be in the city for a couple of nights.

Weekly Word Photo

This week I decided to use an online word randomiser to find my word. I took the first it gave me which was 'Movie'. Not much to interpret there, but I chose to portray what the important factors of movie watching are in this house. The big t.v and the sofa. Food tends to be included in that, but I seem to be photographing food quite a lot at the moment so chose to veto that idea....

Weekly Word Photo: 'Orange'

This weeks Weekly Word Photo comes based on a word yet again recommended by a sister of mine ( I have quite a few...) I asked on facebook for some suggestions, and had two. The word 'wiener' from a friend in Canada, and the word 'orange' from my sister. Quite obviously I went for the latter of the two.......

This alone actually stumped me. I thought about it for days, and wandered around the house looking for inspiration. I even googled the word and ran it through a thesaurus. What I was struggling with was that I didn't want to just take a picture of an orange or the colour orange. Predictably the internet didn't bring anything new or fun. When I was wondering around the house there was quite a lot that was orange. Suprisingly a students life is run by orange things- baked beans, the dishwasher lights that tell you when you can have some clean cutlery (with which to eat your baked beans), mini chedders, fanta, jelly, a mouldy orange..... you get the idea.

In the end this image was chosen from many taken and edited around many variations and ideas of the word orange. I chose it simply because it was my favorite of the bunch, no other reason. I like the bright bright colours! Oh, and it's yummy :)

Weekly Word Photo: 'Atmosphere'

Last week brought Cornwall a lot of rain and misty weather. When I was driving back from Simon Green's studio in Penzance, it was soo foggy. I could barely see where I was going. I was so focused on getting some photos (quickly) of the great postboxes that I had seen in a village on my way there for my comparison photos that I didn't even think about trying to take a photo of the mist. Sadly the next day my sister Jenny suggested the word 'Atmosphere' for my weekly word photo. So annoyed at myself. I was instantly gutted that I had missed out on that photo.

As the week went by I was thinking that I would have to change the word and come up with something new. However when I was editing the images from a shoot of Simon Green's that I was lucky enough to observe I thought that this fitted the bill rather well.

Hopefully you will agree.

What gets it for me is the feet and legs. Ready to pounce and get into action. Waiting. Ready. Especially Kevin's on the far right hand side. He's so energetic and eager. Like a tiger waiting to pounce....

I have to admit though that this is not what I had imagined for this word. So at some point I'm gonna revisit it so that I can do justice to the image in my head waiting to be made.

P.S There will be lots of images from this shoot on the way soon. I took nearly 700 on the day, cut that down to about 150 and began editing! It took me pretty much all of yesterday afternoon and evening and I have to say I'm really pleased with loads of them. Can't wait to share :)

Weekly Word Photo: 'Work'

This weeks weekly word photo will be based on the word 'Work' as the last week or two that's all it's feels like me and the mr do....

This is pretty much what my days revolve around at the moment. It's quite an obvious image in many ways, but I still like it :)

Weekly Word Photo

One of my projects is to take a weekly photo based on a word or theme as suggested by either you guys, or maybe the guys I live with. This weeks word will be 'work' and the images will be posted weekly on Fridays.

The 365 days project will be started at the end of February, on our anniversary to document a visual year of our lives, and I have managed to make a start on the self portrait photo-bit of a cop out this week but it will be posted on Thursday, again every week!
