Taking a Day Off
It's becoming quite rare for me to have a proper day off. By which I mean a day in which I do not work. With all the up coming shoots I seem to be spending a large amount of my days (and some evenings too) off work from the cafe, in meetings and the like. So much so that it's been 3 weeks since I had a proper day off. So this week I forced myself to take one! I am second shooting a wedding this weekend, and have a shoot next week and so could tell that if I didn't do it now, it was gonna be a while!
And so I jam packed my day with fun, chilled out things for me and the mr to do!
We had coffee and cake in the morning with his mum,
followed by Fish and Chips on the beach and a paddle in the sea (I get so desperate to go in the sea when I work in a beach cafe all day long and don't even go outside).
Then after a quick nap at home, we headed out with some house mates to our favourite rock jumping location- where we all conquered one of the biggest jumps- a whopping 20 feet high jump (guestimating here people but it's definitely the height of a house!)
Just including this pic of Mike (which he is gonna kill me for) so that you can see where we jumped from. See that ledge just to the right of Mike? Yeh we totally jumped off the top of that. And I'm not even kidding :)
After which we had a late bbq dinner on the beach with some very funny friends :). Well, once we got the barbecue to work.......
I love having days like this. Fun filled, yet not stressful or rushed. Just some pure Cornish joy!
How do you like to spend your days off? If you aren't as lucky as me to live by the sea, then I bet it's quite different to mine!

P.S All of these images have been taken straight off the camera and onto here, at midnight last night...... so they are yet to be edited. Apologies for any crapness, though they were taken with my news lens, which I'm kind of in love with!

That's Steve above, desperately prodding the bbq to try to get it to do something after two hours of it doing NOTHING!

Coiffee
Did you know I don't actually like Coffee? Yup I can't stand to drink it. Shocker huh? Especially considering how much I love to make it. I have to say, when I told my manager, I think she nearly had a heart attack. No joke. She was open mouthed in shock for quite some time. Admittedly she had had a few drinks by this point, but she was extremely shocked to discover that her newly hired "coffee geek" doesn't actually drink the stuff...
But boy do I love making it. And smelling it :). Plus, having just perfected my consistency for latte art, I'm loving the images from this article my mum sent me...

Fun ways to use a disposable camera
Disposable cameras often seem old and useless, but you could have so much fun with them if you did all of the things that Photojojo suggested!

You could leave one at the park for a few days, or add some filters and new lenses to one to get crazy effects, you could even damage it if you wanted to!

Origin Barista Training
I started working in the catering industry when I was 13. I got my first job in cafe through that long legged girl that is my best friend. The family that ran the business at the time are still very close to me, and hopefully always will be. When I started in the industry, one of the first things I learnt was how to use a coffee machine. I prided myself in learning how to create smooth frothy milk for my customers, and after I left the little cafe, I moved onto to bigger and better restaurants and cafe's that gave me the barista training I desired. Since then I have fallen in love with coffee. I can't really explain it, as I don't like to drink coffee- I don't even like to drink tea! I am a water and juice kinda gal :). Yet maintaining a coffee machine, learning about the beans, producing quality crema and even cleaning the machine gives me pride and makes me happy. I love it :) I now become the coffee girl wherever I work.
In some ways this is quite strange to me, as I started out loving the job because of the people and the customers. I am a sociable person. But over the years the coffee has drawn me in, and left me wanting more. I felt that the training I had been offered though work just wasn't enough. Plus, having not had a regular job over the last 2 years, but spits and spats of work, I have become rusty. And so I contacted Origin.
Both times I have had barista training though work, it has been with Origin, and they have always proven themselves to be fabulous. I like working with them, even if I only come into contact with their colourful delivery van and the nice smiley man inside it :). And so, I contacted Origin to see if they could help me. Within a couple of days I had a response saying that they could happily squeeze me onto a course in their warehouse if I wanted. So on Thursday of this week I will be spending my day with lovely gentlemen of Origin Coffee. Next week i will write all about my day with them, and share some images from the day too, but more information on the local Cornish coffee company that is Origin coffee, please head over to their website.

The most thrilling way to eat dinner.
One of my favorite blogs, A Cup of Jo, recently featured the company Dinner in the Sky. This Belgian company can provide a 3 course dinner- in the sky! The table, plus you and your companions will be hoisted into the sky to enjoy a dinner prepared especially for you by some very talented chefs.
Gourmet food meets adrenaline junkies!
They also offer the same services for other events. So you could get hold a party or event in the sky, or even get married in the sky!!

Funny Photos
One of my oldest friends parents just got a new kitten for her sister. Cara's rents let Lia choose a ginger boy. They asked Lia what she thought of when she thought of orange or yellow things, and she said Mango's. So, low and behold, Mango moved in.
I babysat for Lia last Friday night, and by this point they had only had Mango for 2 days. He was rather shy to begin with, scared by Lia's excitement to see me, and spent a lot of time hiding in plant pots and under pillows or behind the sofa. Then when she had unwillingly gone to bed, I found him, and cuddled him for a little bit. By 10pm he was going crazy! He is the funniest little kitten ever, and is so inquisitive and hyper, constantly fidgeting and talking, even when I was stroking him. He spent and hour and a half just running around the living room chasing himself, bumping into furniture, mewing at me, trying to drink my water and screaming at me some more! He investigated every single part of the room, climbing up and around all the furniture. Every now and then he would come up to and mew, and ask for attention, but then when I went to reach for him he would run away scared! Then climb up the sofa and start rolling around on his back with his little paws in the air, all stretched out. I had so much fun watching him while I was catching up with things.
Sadly I was in so much of a rush when I left home, that I forgot to take a camera with me :( So I have no cute pictures to share of either little one, but I did find these on a A Cup of Jo and they reminded me so much of him :)

Aren't they brilliant?! I love how they look like they're standing that way in the bottom picture, and how they look almost normal in the image below
Their eyes don't even look confused or scared. Just blank. Like- 'what are you looking at? This is totally normal behaviour......'

P.S As usual the images shown here belong to the artist mentioned or linked. I found the above images linked by Joanna Goddard of A Cup of Jo. They are not her, or my work.
