Me and the Mr. 2 Years on

Today is our 2 year anniversary :) It was exactly 2 years today that I traveled to France to see my mr while he was there on his ski season. A week later, curled up in bed, he shyly asked me to officially be his. By this point we had been 'seeing' each other for about 2 months. Although we have known each other for years.... And when I say seeing each other, I actually mean hours of daily phone conversations as he was, you know, in France ------>

The funny thing is, neither of us remember the first time we met.... we just remember that we knew each other. We used to talk to on msn messenger, and had a few friends in common so would hang out every now and then. Once in a while we would catch the same bus too.

According to my mum (!!) when I was 12 I had to get a bus with kids that went to Penair School (A state school up the hill from my posh tottie private school). Some of the kids on the bus used to tease me for going to a private school, and having to wear a lovely cornish kilt as my school uniform. (That's right. A kilt. It was horrendous.) But Mike stood up for me :). I didn't take that bus again, but over the years we saw each other and kept in touch.

I distinctly remember 3 occasions growing up and seeing him, but sadly that's about it.
Then, one day, when I was about 17 or 18, I was going through my music and found a song- 'Beating Heart Baby' by Head Automatica, that I couldn't play. iTunes required me to enter the account password of the person who sent it to me back in 2006. That person turned out to be Mike. At the time he had sent it to me, we had been speaking (by which I mean flirting) a lot on good old msn quite regularly. But lost contact for a couple of years after that.

Then, after a college party, I was home with Cara drunkenly facebook stalking a guy she had kissed that night. It was about 4am so I was quite suprised when I had a new notification saying that someone (Mike) had left a comment on one of my pictures..... telling me how cute I looked. We started talking again, and he suggested meeting up as he was leaving in a couple of weeks for a 5 month ski season. So we did. And for the two weeks before he left, we spent most nights together; sitting in starbucks chatting, awkwardly watching movies in either of our mum's houses, going to various asian restaurants for dinner...... you get it. Once he left though, we didn't speak for a couple of weeks. I don't think either of us knew where we stood. But I sent him a text saying I missed him, and a couple of days later on his 19th birthday I had a very drunk text conversation with him. On the train on the way back he very romantically declared that he thought I was kind of girl that you will only meet once in your life, you never forget, and that he thought he could have fallen in love with me if he had spent more time with me (in his words- "Sorry, it's cheesy I know.")

Next thing you know, after 6 years of knowing each other, 2 months of constant chatting, a 1,000 pound phone bill, and a week spent in France, we were in love. Nice soppy romantic story for ya there!

I hope you liked reading our little story, it is quite a long one so I hope I didn't bore anyone!! Tonight we are going out to one of our favorite restaurants to celebrate. Nothing big or fancy, just a nice night together. Sadly it's one thing we don't get to do much at the moment, funds are tight, and we work opposite hours. So a nice quiet night out of the house is pretty much perfect for us :)

365 Project

Today I officially start my 365 project! To be honest I'm a bit nervous..... finding the inspiration and subject to take a good picture everyday...... scary. They might not all be good, but they will be photos regardless!

I will be taking images both with digital and film during this project (including today) so some images may not appear on the actual day, but I will do my best and they will always be labelled! If I shoot so many with film, then I will do a weekly post of the weeks images instead. I'm pretty much just gonna go with the flow to begin with...

So I made sure to take at least one with digital today so that I would have something to show on here.... it will be up later on...!

I'm in Love with Photojojo

Good Morning! I just discovered Photojojo. An awesome photography d.i.y site that sends you weekly newsletters of ideas. A day later I discovered their store..... and I'm in love.

So far this a few of the items on my wishlist....

This handy camera strap that holds an extra roll of film whilst looking pretty awesome.

A hilarious tripod for those take a picture of us moments.

I already have a Diana F+ Camera, but to have a lens version for my digital SLR would be perfect :).

An iPhone tripod mount. (If only I actually had an iPhone.....)

While it looks similar to the tripod above, this video rig for an iPhone can make an amateur into a pro...

All Images were taken directly from the Photojoj Store

Family Time

I took these before and during a game of monopoly at my Gran's birthday dinner on Wednesday night :) We went out for mocktails and tapas afterwards :)

Weekly Word Photo: 'Orange'

This weeks Weekly Word Photo comes based on a word yet again recommended by a sister of mine ( I have quite a few...) I asked on facebook for some suggestions, and had two. The word 'wiener' from a friend in Canada, and the word 'orange' from my sister. Quite obviously I went for the latter of the two.......

This alone actually stumped me. I thought about it for days, and wandered around the house looking for inspiration. I even googled the word and ran it through a thesaurus. What I was struggling with was that I didn't want to just take a picture of an orange or the colour orange. Predictably the internet didn't bring anything new or fun. When I was wondering around the house there was quite a lot that was orange. Suprisingly a students life is run by orange things- baked beans, the dishwasher lights that tell you when you can have some clean cutlery (with which to eat your baked beans), mini chedders, fanta, jelly, a mouldy orange..... you get the idea.

In the end this image was chosen from many taken and edited around many variations and ideas of the word orange. I chose it simply because it was my favorite of the bunch, no other reason. I like the bright bright colours! Oh, and it's yummy :)

Also if you want to see the other orange pictures I took this week, check out my flickr page, where I have put them up.

Self Portrait Photo's

This week I had two days in which to do nothing..... so I did nothing..... it was amazing :) But as a result I lost all of my organisation skills. I forgot to take my gran's birthday present to her birthday dinner.... and I forgot to do a self portrait photo. This was taken 10 minutes before I left for work this morning having quickly munched on my brekkie. Sadly because of this, it has no meaning or thought behind it but instead shows me in the room where I spent all of this week... the living room. I'm sorry. I'll make sure that next weeks is much better!

P.S At least in the rush of taking it I was brave enough to include my face in the picture! I was planning on it only being of my feet- but hurrah! I am brave! (hahahahaha)

Awesome Photography and Inspiration

Jo from A Cup of Jo posted about this photography project that Irina Werning has been doing which involves people reenacting their childhood photos.

How fun are they!? I don't think I'd be brave enough to do any of mine....

Fashion Love: Personal Style Inspiration

I read about this blogger's personal style during New York Fashion Week, and I have to say I am in love.  Each day of New York Fashion week Jamie, from the blog From Me To You, has been epitomizing a style icon. She has been photographing herself in these beautiful outfits and featuring them alongside images of where she took her inspiration from. When you combine these images of her it really makes for a fun and beautiful form of fashion.

Check out the post and images that I found here, or the original with lots of extra images here, otherwise check out the images below (courtesy of Miss Moss)....

Plus if you are interested she (Jamie) will be/ has been posting daily from New York Fashion week with street style photographyrunway imagesbehind the scenes photos plus her daily outfit with its inspiration.

I heart d.i.y

I love a bit of d.i.y and these posts from last week make me want to start doing more..... I just need to find the space, the money for supplies... etc. etc.

What I found was these stuffed hearts on Design Sponge that could be used as a drawer freshener, a tag on a gift, or could be the gift itself. I'm thinking of just having a few on display somewhere, or maybe leaving one in the mr's pocket one day.....

The second d.i.y post I found was for these nice and simple, but still eye catchingly gorgeous white bottles. Use as a vase and leave on a windowsill......

Images: Simon Green and Flava

Here are some of my favorites..... I will put the rest up on flickr, and will re post them when I have edited them with Simon. There are 100 in total, so I will only be posting a very small selection on here.

By the way you can double click on them to make them larger.
