This is genius. Pure genius. And so so interesting.
Photographer Uric Collette has merged photos of relatives together for a photographic experiment, and the results are fascinating (I think);
"Quebec, Canada-based graphic designer and photographer Ulric Collette has created a shockingly cool project where he's exploring the genetic similarities between different members of the same family. By splitting their faces in half and then splicing them together, he creates interesting new people that are sometimes quite normal looking and other times far from it. He calls this series Genetic Portraits."
Isn't it so funny how very similar these faces are!? I don't think I look much like some of my family members, I sometimes get the odd comment that I have my mother's nose, but I do know that I look like my dad. Mainly because I am tall with dark brown hair. And also because I look shockingly like my sister, who is 14 years my senior and has a different mother to me. So we must share some genes eh!? Well same could be said for the photographer himself, who has featured himself in the project; see above for example where he has split his face with his son's, and the one above it where he split his face with his brothers. SO similar! What do you think?
I think it would make for quite an interesting family tree if you took a photo of everyone in your family and merged half of your face with each of theirs. You would really find out which side of your family you get your looks from wouldn't you! I think you would also find, as many do, that they look strikingly like their grandparents (and sometimes more so than their parents) which is quite true for my cousin who is a mini version of my Gramps. Maybe I will try it one day :).

Hair and styling
I've been wanting to die my hair red for about a year now, and tried it once myself when I was at UBC. Sadly though my hair is so dark that it sucks up and the colour but refuses to lighten at all so leaves me looking quite gothic... Plus lately lots of people I know seem to be dying their hair red, and I don't really want to look like I'm following the pack now. However I recently found this fantastic beauty blog which has some really really great tutorials, including this one for rainbow tips;
If I had longer hair I would totally be doing this to mine! I'm so glad I found you beauty department :)

Just Another Manic Monday
So. It's Monday again. And firstly I feel that I need to apologise for the lack of blogging last week- I was grateful for the break, but I'm back! I'm here again! :) So to begin with, I have lots of inspiration for you!
Staring out this great idea for a way to remember a sweet moment in your relationship- framing a receipt (or something similar) from a meal out/day out etc.
Just like Susan and Rob, friends of my favourite blogger Joanna from A Cup of Jo; who framed a receipt of a couple of coffees they had together on their first date, and have it hanging in their kitchen! So damn cute.

Now I just need to find something from mine and Mike's beginnings 2 and a half years ago.... wish me luck, it's quite unlikely!

Little things keep the world going around
So today I am feeling just as tired as yesterday, and after going to a pilates class and then out for lunch I came home and crashed! I have now been in bed for about 3 hours, which is amazing :). Plus I received an email today from the lovely people at Schmap to let me know that one of my images from my trip to Canada back in March has been shortlisted to be used for a guide to Vancouver!
This is oh so exciting, and even better because they find me- I never submitted anything to them, they just found me! So hopefully one day soon that will be real :)
This is the image chosen via flickr; it shows two boys in the middle of the market on Granville Island making fudge :)
Wish me luck!

70's come floral fashion Shoot
Last Sunday I spent my morning with two lovely blondes in the giant rhubarb and hydrangea bushes at Trebah Garden, and well, here are the results :)
We started out in the 70's and then very quickly wanted to take advantage of some STUNNING floral headbands created by Clare Webb Cultivation, and so moved onto a more flower power style of 70's fashion. As you can tell though the headbands took all of my focus :).
The photo of Cara and Louise together took a bit of awkwardness and hard work on my part. I'm really happy with the image, and wish I could have spent more time working on similar images. But you work with what you've got ;) Thanks for trying it guys!
Thanks to Neila for the stunning as usual make-up, to Tessa for helping me with the styling and also to the fantastic Clare Webb for creating the most stunning floral headbands ever! They were stunning and absaloutley made the shoot, and my day! Thank you so much for your help ladies! Also a huge thanks to Karen of Shabby Tiger Vintage in Redruth for the fantastic vintage clothing that inspired the shoot!
Plus of course a huge thanks to the fantastic models; Louise and Cara for their time, contribution, and well, all round good looks!
And of course a huge thank you for Trebah Gardens for allowing us the use of their gardens on a busy Sunday morning!
