Happy Valentines Day!

Last year for Valentines both me and the mr were working and so I posted a list of nice things to buy (which I still think would be perfect) and shared some photos of us. Well this year, not much has changed, the mr is still working and I will be at uni all day in the print room. But there is a difference. This year is the 30th anniversary of my Granddad's death. And so I will be popping over to see my Gran with some flowers and treats for her, and will spend some time with her instead. Don't worry it's not a sad event, but is certainly one of the reasons I don't ever do anything romantic on valentines day. (Another reason is that it is mine and Mike's anniversary in a week so we would rather save our money to celebrate that! Can't wait!)

However if you have a date planned- please have a wonderful time!

Geeks vs. Nerds

I found this on Pinterest over the weekend, and it made me think about my mr. He is a geek. Not in the clever, science obsessed, socially inept way; but in the likes to play computer games and watch Marvel films way. I think it is a very common thing for a guy in his 20's to be a geek. It's not a new thing that's for sure.

Anyway, he's often trying to convince people that he's not a loser for playing computer games. (Video games seem much cooler to outsiders apparently.) That the fact that he plays Call of Duty on a computer game rather than on a console like an Xbox or Playstation means nothing. In fact it means he has more skills with his hands and the ability to do many things at once. And yet it makes you seem nerdy, without a smidgen of geek chic.  So, when I found this image, it made me smile, and think of my mr :).

I'm in Canada!!!

Hello from Victoria, B.C!! Yup, that's right! Saturday morning we woke up super duper early, and headed off to Newquay airport. 3 flights and a coach ride later we are with my mum! This week I will have lots of photos to share of what we get up to, and hopefully some interesting posts with a Christmas and/or Canada theme!

London Town!

So, I am back and just recovered from our little birthday trip to London! And I didn't get time to plan a post for yesterday, so sorry if you tuned in to find nothing!

We got back on Friday night, I don't even know what I did on Saturday (I was slightly comatose from lack of sleep....) and then worked a busy busy shift on Sunday! So after a full day in the studio yesterday, I am back and running and ready to share the photos from our trip!

We wandered all along the Southbank in London, after arriving super early off our sleeper train.

We popped over t St. Pauls, crossing the Millenium bridge just for the mr's mum!

We popped into the Tate gift shop (I don't like the Tate. Just the gift shop!) and also into Winston Churchill's War Experience.

We then also quickly visited the Fashion and Textiles Museum before lunch

Then the London Dungeon, followed by a delicious dinner with a bottle of champagne!

We ended the evening with stand up at the Comedy Store!

Then Friday we mulled around a couple more museums before renting Barclays bikes to zip across Hyde Park! We made it just in time to our train home with a picnic from M&S.

All in all it was beyond perfect and I cannot thank my lovely man enough for spoiling me for my birthday!!! Thank you honey, I love you :)

Landan Town

This evening we head out to Landan town on the sleeper train for 3 days in the city with my boy :) I can't wait to see what suprises Mike has lined up for and to celebrate being 21! Be back soon with photos!

Just Another Manic Monday

So. It's Monday again. And firstly I feel that I need to apologise for the lack of blogging last week- I was grateful for the break, but I'm back! I'm here again! :) So to begin with, I have lots of inspiration for you!

Staring out this great idea for a way to remember a sweet moment in your relationship- framing a receipt (or something similar) from a meal out/day out etc.

Just like Susan and Rob, friends of my favourite blogger Joanna from A Cup of Jo; who framed a receipt of a couple of coffees they had together on their first date, and have it hanging in their kitchen! So damn cute.

Now I just need to find something from mine and Mike's beginnings 2 and a half years ago.... wish me luck, it's quite unlikely!

I've never really wanted a watch before. Mike offered to buy me one for my birthday last year, but as I never wear one I thought that was a silly idea and a waste of money.

But at work a lot of the girls wear some seriously nice watches, that are super stylish. And it makes me kinda want one.... one like this....

Falmouth University College

So, those of you that follow the links I put up on facebook will probably have seen that I was offered a place at Falmouth University. I am so so pleased because quite honestly, I didn't think I would get in! When I was still in College, and everyone was applying for uni a few of my friends applied for Falmouth and didn't get in. They were easily as good as me, and some better, so this worried me.

At this time I had been applying for Canadian Universities, and had applied for the equivalent of Falmouth; Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Luckily for me, I was offered a place, but turned it down in favor of UBC. But Falmouth is still one of the top art Universities in the UK, so I was rightly nervous!

But good news is, I have accepted the place, and I get to stay in a town I love, a county I love, with the people I love, on a course I will hopefully love! I don't know whether me and the mr will continue living together or not, I think we would both quite like to have our own space for a while, but either way we will be in the same town, rather than on different continents!

Me and the Mr. 2 Years on

Today is our 2 year anniversary :) It was exactly 2 years today that I traveled to France to see my mr while he was there on his ski season. A week later, curled up in bed, he shyly asked me to officially be his. By this point we had been 'seeing' each other for about 2 months. Although we have known each other for years.... And when I say seeing each other, I actually mean hours of daily phone conversations as he was, you know, in France ------>

The funny thing is, neither of us remember the first time we met.... we just remember that we knew each other. We used to talk to on msn messenger, and had a few friends in common so would hang out every now and then. Once in a while we would catch the same bus too.

According to my mum (!!) when I was 12 I had to get a bus with kids that went to Penair School (A state school up the hill from my posh tottie private school). Some of the kids on the bus used to tease me for going to a private school, and having to wear a lovely cornish kilt as my school uniform. (That's right. A kilt. It was horrendous.) But Mike stood up for me :). I didn't take that bus again, but over the years we saw each other and kept in touch.

I distinctly remember 3 occasions growing up and seeing him, but sadly that's about it.
Then, one day, when I was about 17 or 18, I was going through my music and found a song- 'Beating Heart Baby' by Head Automatica, that I couldn't play. iTunes required me to enter the account password of the person who sent it to me back in 2006. That person turned out to be Mike. At the time he had sent it to me, we had been speaking (by which I mean flirting) a lot on good old msn quite regularly. But lost contact for a couple of years after that.

Then, after a college party, I was home with Cara drunkenly facebook stalking a guy she had kissed that night. It was about 4am so I was quite suprised when I had a new notification saying that someone (Mike) had left a comment on one of my pictures..... telling me how cute I looked. We started talking again, and he suggested meeting up as he was leaving in a couple of weeks for a 5 month ski season. So we did. And for the two weeks before he left, we spent most nights together; sitting in starbucks chatting, awkwardly watching movies in either of our mum's houses, going to various asian restaurants for dinner...... you get it. Once he left though, we didn't speak for a couple of weeks. I don't think either of us knew where we stood. But I sent him a text saying I missed him, and a couple of days later on his 19th birthday I had a very drunk text conversation with him. On the train on the way back he very romantically declared that he thought I was kind of girl that you will only meet once in your life, you never forget, and that he thought he could have fallen in love with me if he had spent more time with me (in his words- "Sorry, it's cheesy I know.")

Next thing you know, after 6 years of knowing each other, 2 months of constant chatting, a 1,000 pound phone bill, and a week spent in France, we were in love. Nice soppy romantic story for ya there!

I hope you liked reading our little story, it is quite a long one so I hope I didn't bore anyone!! Tonight we are going out to one of our favorite restaurants to celebrate. Nothing big or fancy, just a nice night together. Sadly it's one thing we don't get to do much at the moment, funds are tight, and we work opposite hours. So a nice quiet night out of the house is pretty much perfect for us :)

February

February is a month of celebration for me, it includes family birthdays, Valentines, and our anniversary! Me and mr aren't really big fans of Valentines, but at the moment that's not just because it's a silly Hallmark holiday, but also because we can't afford to celebrate both Valentines and our anniversary within 2 weeks! Last year the mr bought be cupcakes.....

Now don't get me wrong, we love getting and giving gifts- but we tend to go for things that we want or need, and well, that's not awfully romantic!

Instead we like to go for walks, eat yummy exotic food, relax by the beach with a pint of cider, watch crappy films and lie in bed. We also love to scuba dive, ski (well I snowboard), rock jump, and generally be adrenaline junkies! In all you could say that we are a typically Cornish couple: lazy adrenaline junkies!

These images are from our most recent big adventure, a very big and expensive one! We are dying to go again, but life kinda gets in the way! Instead we are trying to find other small adventures to keep us occupied in the mean time...!
